About the app

What is PrayerList Pro?

PrayerList Pro is a free Christian prayer app for the people you pray for. It brings together a prayer list, the Bible and a journal on iPhone, iPad and Mac. There are also apps for Apple Watch, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro.

It’s made to hold the names, needs and answers you might otherwise forget, then step aside, so your attention can rest on God and on the people you love. See what’s inside the app.

Is it really free? Is there a subscription?

Yes, it’s free to download and use. There’s no subscription, no paywall, no locked features and no ads.

If you’d like to support the work, you can leave an optional tip in the app. Tips unlock nothing extra, and they aren’t tax-deductible.

Why is it free?

PrayerList Pro’s founder, Brandon Bernicky, describes it in the app as “free, an act of service.” Every feature is there for everyone, so no one has to pay to use any part of it.

If you want to help, you can leave an optional tip. Tips support the app’s development.

Which devices does it work on?

PrayerList Pro has apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro, and a Messages app on iPhone and iPad.

The app needs iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26 or visionOS 26. Apple Watch needs watchOS 26.2, and Apple TV needs tvOS 26.2. Widgets and the Messages app need iOS or iPadOS 26.2. Later versions work too.

Features vary by device. Widgets, Search, Church Mode and scanning a prayer card are on iPhone and iPad. Apple TV shows your prayer list and the Prayer Wall. See what each device can do.

Is there an Android version?

Yes. PrayerList Pro is also available for Android phones and tablets on Google Play. This website describes the Apple version; features on Android differ.

What languages is it in?

The app is fully translated into English, Spanish (Mexico), Portuguese (Brazil), French (Canada) and Afrikaans.

Unless you choose another edition, the Bible opens in your app’s language: the NVI in Spanish, the NVI in Brazilian Portuguese and La Bible du Semeur in French. There’s no Afrikaans Bible yet, so in Afrikaans the Bible opens in the NIV.

A few things stay in English: most articles and devotionals in Resources, the text of one journal template, and the web form guests use to send Prayer Wall requests.

How do I use the app in Afrikaans? Is there an Afrikaans Bible?

Your iPhone or iPad itself can’t be set to Afrikaans, so you choose Afrikaans just for PrayerList Pro. These settings appear in your device’s language, usually English:

  1. Add Afrikaans in Settings › General › Language & Region › Add Language.
  2. Open Settings › Apps › PrayerList Pro › Language and choose Afrikaans. This option appears once you’ve added more than one language.

There’s no Afrikaans Bible yet. The app tells you so and starts with the NIV, and you can choose any of the six editions. There’s no Afrikaans App Store listing, but the app itself is fully translated.

Does it work on iPhone Duo?

Yes. Since version 1.8, PrayerList Pro is built for iPhone Duo. Open it like a book, with the Bible on one page and your journal on the other. Lay it flat to write across a full page, or stand it half-folded as a prayer desk.

The iPhone Duo layouts need iOS 27.1 or later. See PrayerList Pro on iPhone Duo.

Privacy and data

Do I need an account?

No. There’s no account to create. Just open the app and start praying.

To sync between your devices or share a prayer group, the app uses the iCloud account already on your device. Without iCloud, the app still works, and your prayers are kept only on that device.

Where are my prayers kept, and how do they sync?

Your prayers and journal are kept on your devices and sync through your own private iCloud account, not through servers we run. Your iCloud data is protected by Apple’s standard iCloud encryption.

To see the same prayers on each device, sign in to the same Apple Account with iCloud on all of them.

Who can see my prayers?

Your prayers hold other people’s stories, so they deserve care. We can’t access the prayers and journal in your private iCloud, and the App Store privacy label reads “Data Not Collected.”

If you share a prayer group, everyone who joins with your invite link sees that group’s requests and any photos on them, its answered prayers, and when someone prays. They never see your journal, your notes, your voice notes or the phone numbers and email addresses copied from Contacts.

Prayer Wall requests are different, because they’re shared with the room. They appear on the TV for everyone, they’re kept in Apple’s public iCloud database during the session, and they’re deleted when the host ends it. Read our privacy policy for the details.

Can I lock the app?

Yes. Turn on Lock App in PrayerList Pro’s settings to open the app with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. It also covers the app’s preview when you switch between apps.

Lock App doesn’t hide widgets, reminder notifications or the Live Activity while you pray, so they can still show what you’re praying for.

Does my prayer time go to Apple Health?

Only if you allow it. Then timed prayers and journal writing sessions are saved to Apple Health as Mindful Minutes, on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, so time spent in prayer is remembered as rest. A quick I Prayed tap isn’t saved to Health.

PrayerList Pro reads and writes only Mindful Minutes. You can turn off its access at any time in your device’s Health settings.

What does the app send when I read the Bible?

Only the reference of the passage you open, such as John 3:16. The app asks a Bible service for that passage, and it never sends your prayers or journal.

As with any web request, the Bible service can see your device’s IP address, and its own privacy policy applies.

Can I export my prayers?

Yes. You can export your prayer list as a PDF or as text, and your journal as a text file. There isn’t a single backup file of everything in the app.

How do I delete my data?

There isn’t one button that erases everything, but you can remove your data in a few steps:

  1. In the app, delete the prayers and journal entries you want to remove.
  2. Delete PrayerList Pro from each of your devices.
  3. Remove the app’s data from iCloud. In your device’s iCloud settings, open the list of apps that use iCloud storage, find the app and delete its data.

If you shared a group, its members may still have copies of its prayers. Mindful Minutes saved to Apple Health stay there until you delete them in the Health app. If you’d like help, ask us about deleting your data.

Using PrayerList Pro

How do I keep a prayer list for other people?

Start with one name. Add a prayer for someone you love, for yourself or for a situation, with a photo from Contacts if you like. You can give each prayer its own reminder: once, daily, weekly, monthly or yearly.

When you’ve prayed, swipe the prayer in your list and tap I Prayed, or tap I Prayed on its reminder. For a timed prayer, open the prayer, tap the Pray button, and tap Amen when you’re done. Each prayer shows the day you added it and how many times you’ve prayed. More about praying for others.

Will the app send me a lot of notifications?

No. Each prayer can have its own reminder at the times you choose, and a prayer without a reminder stays quiet.

If you’d like, turn on a gentle nudge. It comes only after more than five days away from the app. If you follow a devotional series in Resources, you can also choose a daily reminder for it.

What happens when a prayer is answered?

Mark the prayer Answered and, if you like, add a note about how God answered. When you do this in the app on iPhone or iPad, a quiet moment of light marks the answer.

Answered prayers are kept in Prayer Life › Completed, with how many times you prayed and how long you carried each one. Some prayers are answered soon. Some you carry for years, and they stay on your list for as long as you need.

Does the app keep a streak?

Yes. Your prayer list and Prayer Life show how many days in a row you’ve prayed. It’s meant to encourage you, not to keep score.

If you miss a day, that number starts again from zero. Nothing else changes: your prayers and answered prayers stay just where they are. As the app says, “Short sessions still count — presence over duration.”

Which Bible translations are included?

Six: the NIV, the ESV and the World English Bible in English, the NVI in Spanish, the NVI in Brazilian Portuguese, and La Bible du Semeur in French.

You can switch editions at any time, and add the verses that stay with you to your journal or to a prayer. The publisher’s copyright notice appears under every chapter.

Does the Bible work offline?

No. Bible passages load from the internet, so reading needs a connection. Your prayers and journal are kept on your device, so they open without one.

The Bible reader doesn’t have bookmarks, highlights or a search of the whole Bible.

Can I write with Apple Pencil and search my handwriting?

Yes, on iPad. Write or draw anywhere on your journal page with Apple Pencil, alongside typed text and photos. Your handwriting stays as ink.

On iPhone and iPad, Search looks through your handwriting too. Your handwriting is recognized on your device.

Can I pray together with family or a small group?

Yes. A family or small group can carry requests together in a shared prayer group. Share the group and send the invite link. Everyone in it sees the group’s requests and any photos on them, its answered prayers, and when someone prays. Your journal, notes and voice notes stay yours.

Sharing needs iCloud. Anyone with the invite link can join, so share it with care. On iPhone and iPad you can also send a single request in Messages, and a friend who uses PrayerList Pro can add it to their own list.

How can our church use PrayerList Pro?

Show a Prayer Wall on your church’s Apple TV. People scan a QR code and send requests from their phones. Names are optional, and the requests are deleted when the host ends the session.

On iPhone and iPad, Church Mode opens Sermon Notes with your church filled in and holds reminders back while the app is open. To silence reminders during the service, add the Church Mode filter to a Focus.

You can also scan a printed prayer card or bulletin on iPhone and iPad. Nothing is added until you review it.
