Our story

Made to help you pray, then step aside.

PrayerList Pro is a free prayer list, Bible and journal for your Apple devices. This is the conviction behind it, the choices it led to, and who makes it.

Why it exists

A tool, never the destination.

PrayerList Pro exists to help people grow closer to God.

In practice, that means helping you:

  • Pray consistently, in short moments and long ones.
  • Pray for other people, by name and by need, and remember them.
  • Spend time in Scripture.
  • Reflect in a journal.
  • Recognize God at work, even when an answer is slow or different from what you asked.

The app’s work is to hold what you might otherwise forget, so your attention can rest on God and on the people you love.

An app can’t make anyone’s faith grow. It can only make room. The rest belongs to God.

The founder’s philosophy

One conviction behind it all.

Brandon Bernicky, who makes PrayerList Pro, puts it simply:

When the technology disappears because it works so well, that’s what makes it an exceptional experience.

Brandon Bernicky, founder

For a prayer app, that means one job: help you pray, then step aside. Prayer needs very little: a quiet moment, a name, an honest heart. An app shouldn’t add anything that competes with that.

So PrayerList Pro tries to be there when you reach for it, and quiet when you don’t. Reminders come only when you turn them on. You choose which prayers get one, and when. You can also turn on one gentle nudge, sent only if you haven’t opened the app in more than five days.

The choices it led to

What the conviction looks like in the app.

You can see it in the choices the app makes, and in what it leaves out.

No account to create.

Nothing stands between opening the app and praying, and there’s no password to remember. If you use iCloud, syncing and shared groups use the account already on your device.

Every feature, for everyone.

In Brandon’s words in the app, “PrayerList Pro is free, an act of service.” There’s no subscription, no ads and nothing locked. If you’d like to support the work, you can leave an optional tip in the app. Tips unlock nothing extra.

Between you and God.

Your prayers and journal live on your devices and in your own private iCloud account, not on servers we run. The app has no third-party analytics, and its App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected.

An app for each Apple device.

PrayerList Pro has an app for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro, so prayer can meet you where your day already is: a widget on your iPhone, your wrist, a screen at church. Features vary by device.

Accessibility as hospitality.

Technology should never stand between a person and prayer. PrayerList Pro is designed for VoiceOver and Dynamic Type, including the journal. We keep improving it as the app grows, so please tell us if anything gets in your way.

Five languages.

The app is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and Afrikaans, so you can pray in the language of your heart. The Bible opens in your language when the app has an edition in it. There’s no Afrikaans Bible yet.

A few things reach beyond your devices and your iCloud. When you open a Bible passage, the app asks a Bible service for it by its reference only, so reading the Bible needs an internet connection. Nothing from your prayers or journal is sent. Groups you share are seen by the people you invite. Prayer Wall requests appear on the Apple TV for everyone in the room. Requests sent from the web form pass through our server on their way to the TV. When the host ends the session, the requests are deleted. Read how we handle your data.

Praying for others

By name, by need, by day.

The app’s welcome screens end with a simple line: “Lift others in prayer.” Praying for others, sometimes called intercession, is at the center of PrayerList Pro.

Intercession is love made specific. It isn’t a task to complete. It’s a way of remembering a person before God. PrayerList Pro helps you keep praying for the people who asked you to, and for the ones who never would.

Your prayers hold other people’s stories, so they deserve care.

Some prayers are answered soon. Some you carry for years. Each one keeps the day you began and how many times you’ve prayed. When God answers, you can write down how.

Praying about Peace for the world: on the prayer list since September 14, prayed 48 times, with a glowing timer and Amen button to finish.
A timed prayer. Stay as long as you need, then tap Amen to finish.

What it isn’t

A few things PrayerList Pro is not.

Not a scoreboard for faith.

Prayer Life shows your time in prayer, the shape of your week and how many days in a row you’ve prayed. That number is not a measure of anyone’s faith. If you miss a day, it starts again, and your prayers and answered prayers stay just where they are. As the app says, “Short sessions still count — presence over duration.”

Not a social network.

There’s no feed, no followers and no public profile. If you share a prayer group, its members see the group’s requests, its answered prayers and when someone prays. Your journal and notes stay yours.

Not a replacement for church or community.

It doesn’t replace your church, time in Scripture, pastoral care, the people who pray beside you, or your own words to God. It simply helps you remember.

Not finished.

We’re still learning. If something gets in the way of your prayer, or you have an idea, we want to hear it. Write to us through the support page.
